How to overlay Gold over Acacia wood so that it will adhere to it without falling off.?
I want to use a piece of dried Mimosa and overlay it with 24 ct gold for a project I’m researching. What’s the process to do this sort of thing?
You need a Gold Leaf kit. This includes an adhesive that you brush onto the wood and a very thin gold foil. The gold is so thin that it basically turns to powder when you apply it, so it can get into all of the tiny crevices. Just follow the instructions on the package. I have no personal experience with this website, but one option is http://www.gildedplanet.com/gildingkits.asp. You can get 24kt as well as lesser alloys and even imitation gold (which is quite a bit cheaper.)
