Hello again to everyone. I have purchased Louis Xvi furniture the wood is painted with Gold Leaf,?

or beaten gold, the painting is off in some parts where it shows the wood beneath it and I would like to touch is up myself with gold leaf I can not afford an expert. My questions are:
1. Do you know of a website that gives you step by step instructions on how to do this?
2. Can real gold pain come in liquid or spray form.
3. Can I paint over the gold that is already there?
3. If I use gold spray paint will that decrease the value of the furniture?

The repair will depend on whether your furniture is antique, vintage, or new.

Generally, antique furniture should not be altered, because it will diminish the value. Antique furniture that is gold is usually true gold leaf. Gilding is a technique detailed on the link below.

I’ve touched-up scratches on both gold-leaf and gold-painted furniture with the Modern Master’s metallic paint, and found that “pharaohs gold” is a good match for most items. This is easy to use, because it just brushes on, and is great for small repairs on vintage and new furniture.
